Smart Templating
Smart Templating can speed up repeat, complex declarations by up to 90%. It removes the need for repetitive data entry, reduces the risk of mistakes and improves consistency across teams. It supports compliant, standardised workflows without adding operational risk.
1. Reusable Templates Across Declaration Levels
Users can create templates for Header, Item, and Party screens. Templates pre‑fill frequently repeated data such as importer details, tariff codes, and product descriptions. Multiple templates can exist at each level to support different shipment types or customers.
2. Flexible Template Application
Templates can be applied at any point during data entry, not only at creation. Applying a template merges data without overwriting unsaved user inputs unless explicitly confirmed. Undo and rollback mechanisms protect against incorrect application.
3. Centralised Template Management
A single interface allows users to create, view, edit, duplicate, delete, and organise templates. Templates include metadata such as owner, version history, and last modified date. The design supports large template libraries with filtering and sorting.
4. Role‑Based Sharing and Defaults
Templates can be private to an individual user, shared by role, or shared organisation‑wide. Users and managers can define default templates that automatically load for new declarations, items, or parties. Access is controlled using the CDMS permissions that already exist.
5. Version Control and Auditability
Each template maintains a full version history. Users can revert to earlier versions when needed. All template actions – including creation, updates, application, and deletion, are logged for compliance and audit purposes.
6. User Experience and Guidance
Clear visual indicators show when a template has been applied. Tooltips, in‑context help, and onboarding guidance are embedded throughout. The experience aligns fully with the CDMS design system and accessibility standards.
7. Performance and Compatibility
Templates load quickly with minimal impact on UI or API performance. The feature is fully compatible with existing CDMS workflows, integrations, and supported browsers.
