They will also be given access to a test environment to help users familiarise themselves with the new system before it goes live.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pre-enrol on the new platform before 20 October<\/li>\n<li>Create a new password<\/li>\n<li>Check that company details and user permissions are up to date<\/li>\n<li>Familiarise themselves with the new platform using the test environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>HMRC estimates that updating a business profile should take between 5 and 30 minutes, depending on the information available and the size of the business.<\/p>\n<h3>20 October deadline<\/h3>\n<p>All goods movements taking place on or after 20 October 2026 must be submitted through the new TSS platform. The existing service will no longer accept new movements from this date.<\/p>\n<p>HMRC has already contacted more than 66,000 registered businesses with guidance, webinars and other support materials.<\/p>\n<p>While the underlying customs processes and legal and regulatory obligations remain unchanged, HMRC says the new GOV.UK-hosted platform will provide improved functionality and enhanced support.<\/p>\n<h3>What businesses should do now<\/h3>\n<p>Businesses using TSS should look out for their pre-enrolment invitation from 1 October and ensure their organisation is ready ahead of the 20 October deadline.
